Jenny Craig announced today that Lane’s End and Martin Wygod have purchased an interest in Grade 1 winner TWIRLING CANDY, currently ranked by the Daily Racing Form as the top older horse in the country.
TWIRLING CANDY has won six of his seven starts, from ages two to four, including four stakes victories on all surfaces. As a two-year-old, he won his only start at Hollywood. At three, he captured his first three starts, including the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby by 3 ¼ lengths and the Oceanside Stakes by 2 ¼ lengths. In his final start at three, he broke Spectacular Bid’s track record in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes. In his only start this year, he romped home by 4 ½ lengths in the Grade 2 Strub Stakes on February 5. TWIRLING CANDY is scheduled to start next in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap.
Bred by Sidney H. and Jenny Craig, TWIRLING CANDY races for the Craig Family Trust (Jenny Craig). He is by champion Candy Ride (Arg), who also stands at Lane’s End, and was the leading sire of Grade 1 winners last year. TWIRLING CANDY is out of House of Danzing, by Chester House. This is the female family of Horse of the Year Affirmed, the last Triple Crown winner.
Will Farish added, “We look forward to his continued success on the race track and his next career as an exciting new addition to the Lane’s End stallion roster.”
