Sophomore sire ARAGORN (IRE) continues to ring up the winners in July. The dynamic multiple Grade 1 winner has no fewer than four new winners to his credit this month, including the 2-year-old colt Paco Smart, who aired by 3 1/4 lengths in a maiden special weight sprinting at Charles Town July 23.
In New York, ARAGORN’s 2-year-old filly La Chiky led every step in a comprehensive 3 1/4-length debut win facing maiden special company July 14, while Arwen Undomiel got his head down in a grassy Ellis Park maiden July 17. Aragorn Sword kicked off the month the right way, dominating a six-furlong Hollywood Park maiden by eight lengths July 1. The final time of 1:10 flat earned Aragorn Sword a 91 BRIS figure.
ARAGORN’s more experienced runners are impressing, too. His 3-year-old colt Prime Objective, owned by Cash Counters and Tim Ritchey, has never been off the board in five starts, and recently won a contentious $41,000 allowance going six furlongs at Delaware July 13 in 1:10 1/5 (92 BRIS). The $200,000 KEESEP yearling was bred by Summer Wind Farm and sold by Lane’s End. Lane’s End also sold Billy Two Hats–and bred–a 3-year-old gelding who captured his second allowance victory in his last three starts at Prairie Meadows July 22. Sent off as the 4-5 choice, he gassed six furlongs on the dirt in a blistering 1:08 1/5, winning by 3 3/4 lengths and earning a big 98 BRIS figure. The chestnut gelding had previously earned a 95 BRIS winning a six-furlong maiden special weight at Oaklawn Park. And in Southern California, the 3-year-old filly Anniversary Girl looked sharp winning a $54,000 turf event at Del Mar July 22. Bred by William B. Harrigan, she rallied from last to get up and take it by a half-length.
