With three winners over Breeders’ Cup weekend and the exacta in the G1 Mile, Lane’s End sires enjoyed a huge two days at the Word Thoroughbred Championships! Kicking things off was SMART STRIKE‘s dynamic filly My Miss Aurelia, who earned herself an Eclipse Award as Champion Two-Year-Old Filly with a superb effort in the G1 Juvenile Fillies on Filly Friday. She is owned by Stonestreet Stable and George Bolton and trained by Steve Asmussen, the same connections as two-time Horse of the Year CURLIN.

Later in the card, the mare Perfect Shirl advertised the talent of her family with a victory in the G1 Filly & Mare Turf. The 4-year-old is a half-sister to our new young stallion sensation SHAKESPEARE!

There was no more impressive a performance at Churchill than the one put up by A.P. INDY’s granddaughter Royal Delta in the Ladies’ Classic. Despite having to run into a slow pace, the sophomore miss surged past MINESHAFT‘s dead-game daughter It’s Tricky in the final furlong to win by 2 1/2 lengths. The win will earn her a championship as Three-Year-Old Filly, and while A.P. INDY is the broodmare sire of Royal Delta, he is the paternal grandfather of Ladies’ Classic third Pachattack, putting him in the second generation of the Ladies’ Classic trifecta.

On Breeders’ Cup Saturday, GULCH’s son Court Vision registered an upset for the ages, rallying to win the G1 Mile by a nostril over Turallure, by WANDO. Court Vision, from the family of A.P. INDY, LEMON DROP KID, et al., was bred and sold by Lane’s End!

In one of the most exciting races of the weekend, DIXIE UNION’s son Union Rags lost a heart-breaking photo to Hansen in the GI Juvenile, but so impressive was the G1 Champagne S. winner’s effort that he’s still in the mix for Champion Juvenile Colt on many ballots.

And finally, the 2-year-old colt Secret Circle, produced by the DIXIELAND BAND mare Ragtime Hope, won the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint.

It was a thrilling two days of racing at the Breeders’ Cup, and Lane’s End congratulates the connections of these horses and of all the big winners!
