The Eclipse Awards were held last night in Beverly Hills, and Horse of the Year honors went the brilliant distaffer Havre de Grace, by our own late sire SAINT LIAM. The Fox Hill Farm colorbearer was just following in the hoofsteps of SAINT LIAM, who earned the Horse of the Year honors in 2005, just as she was following in his hoofsteps when she captured the G1 Woodward S. at Saratoga last season. Havre de Grace, bred by Nancy S. Dillman and trained by Larry Jones, was also named Champion Older Female.

Another female with close ties to Lane’s End had a big Eclipse night. Stonestreet Stable and George Bolton’s My Miss Aurelia, by SMART STRIKE, was the overwhelming choice as Champion Juvenile Filly, taking all but one of the votes after an undefeated season that saw her win the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, G1 Frizette S. and G2 Adirondack S. My Miss Aurelia was bred by Stonestreet and is trained by Steve Asmussen, who conditioned another champion offspring of SMART STRIKE, the dual Horse of the Year CURLIN.

Royal Delta, who was produced by a daughter of A.P. INDY, was tabbed Champion 3-Year-old Filly, while the Champion Two-Year-Old Colt Hansen is a great-grandson of the Lane’s End great.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners on racing’s biggest night!
