“Early in Tuesday’s second session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale of selected yearlings, Waratah Thoroughbreds went to $900,000 to acquire a Dynaformer filly out of Grade 3 winner Super Freaky, from the family of champion and dual classic winner Silver Charm.
Waratah Thoroughbreds is owned by Australian mining entrepreneur Paul Fudge.
“We have a long history with the pedigree,” said David Ingordo, who signed the ticket. “[Ingordo and Pablo Suarez] bought and raced Super Freaky and then we sold her in November. We also bought her mother and sold her that same November. And I bought the yearling out of the mare that can really run, she’s in California, so when we saw this filly, Paul’s got a team of people who do pedigree research led by Ken McLean. They gave us a list of pedigrees, and this filly was a superstar on physical. They aren’t making any more Dynaformers, so she was special.
“This is a cornerstone piece, a nice Dynaformer filly that we think can be a stake horse that can retire to the Waratah broodmare band. I don’t know his plans, where he plans to race her.”
