PLEASANTLY PERFECT has never had volumes of numbers working for him, but that hasn’t prevented him from becoming a rock-solid sire who turns out top-class horses year after year. From five modestly sized crops to race, he has 14 stakes winners, and has been represented by the likes of G1 Breeders’ Cup F/M Turf heroine Shared Account, champion Silverside, national record-setter Rapid Redux, MGSW Cozi Rosie, and this year’s Grade 1-performing sophomore Nonios.

In fact, PLEASANTLY PERFECT can boast of have 29 stakes horses from just 177 starters. That equates to an excellent strike rate of 16.4% stakes horses to runners. By way of comparison, that figure outpaces top sires like Arch (16%), Awesome Again (15.1%), Elusive Quality (15.2%), Harlan’s Holiday (15%), Malibu Moon (16%), Stormy Atlantic (13.9%), Tiznow (14.5%), etc.

PLEASANTLY PERFECT is also siring exceptional quality. Of his black-type runners, 14 have won or placed in graded company, a rate of 5.51% of his 254 named foals to date. That compares very favorably to horses like Arch (4.63%), Elusive Quality (4.27%), Indian Charlie (5.27%), Malibu Moon (5.36%), Medaglia d’Oro (5.04%), Tiznow (5.17%), etc.

The quality of PLEASANTLY PERFECT’s is also reflected in his lifetime Average Earnings Index of 1.90, meaning his average runner earns nearly twice the national average. Bernardini, who stands for $150,000 in 2012, has an AEI of 2.02–just ahead of PLEASANTLY PERFECT–while the latter’s fig is better than Tiznow (1.89), Giant’s Causeway (1.87), Arch (1.86), Elusive Quality (1.83), Malibu Moon (1.76), Kitten’s Joy (1.64), Harlan’s Holiday (1.60), etc.

With eight stakes winners from a small first crop–including the $1.6 million earner Shared Account–PLEASANTLY PERFECT started out strong and has continued right on through present day.

Just last weekend, the 2yo filly Cat Five’ O became his latest stakes winner in the one-mile Mistletoe S. at Remington Park, which improved her record to three wins in six starts. Cat Five’ O is a Lane Thoroughbreds homebred and is trained by Clinton Stuart.

A week earlier, the 3yo Nonios gave the classy Game On Dude all he could handle in the G3 Native Diver S. at Betfair Hollywood Park in a deep race that also included CANDY RIDE (ARG)’s Kettle Corn and LEMON DROP KID’s MG1SW Richard’s Kid. Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer on behalf of owner Green B. Smith, Jr., Nonios also completed the exacta to Game on Dude in the G1 Awesome Again S. earlier in the year, and has established himself as one of his division’s most exciting prospects for 2013 with a win in the G3 Affirmed H. and further placings in the G1 Haskell Invitational and G2 Swaps S. Nonios has finished first or second in 7 of 10 starts.

PLEASANTLY PERFECT’s 2012 runners also include the exciting 3yo colt My Adonis, winner of the Long Branch S. at Monmouth and placed in the G3 Holy Bull S. and G3 Gotham S.; the Grade 1 performers Miss Mittagong and Setsuko; and the stakes winners or stakes performers Calle Vista, Isn’t He Perfect, Shrilanka, etc.

Looking for a sire who can get you the quality to make it to the big races, but without the big fee? Make the smart play…for PLEASANTLY PERFECT.
