With five 2012 stakes winners and a pair of exciting group winners, STEPHEN GOT EVEN showed once again why he’s one of A.P. INDY’s best value sires at stud.
A look at the numbers shows that STEPHEN GOT EVEN is indeed one of A.P. INDY’s most effective sons at siring top-level horses. As the sire of the likes of champion Stevie Wonderboy, First Dude and I Want Revenge, STEPHEN GOT EVEN is the only son of A.P. INDY at stud to have sired more than two Northern Hemisphere Grade 1 winners currently standing for less than $35,000. And he sits with Pulpit and Bernardini as the only A.P. INDY sons to have sired three or more Grade 1-winning males.
In 2012, STEPHEN GOT EVEN saw his flag flown by Viramundo, a Group 2 winner overseas, and Group 3 winner Indiana Got Even.
Closer to home, Buckle Bunny Babe continued to be a picture of toughness. At the close of 2012, she’d won eight of 19 starts, including the West Virginia Breeders’ Classic Distaff S., and has missed the board just once in her career.
The gelding Diavoletto, first or second in six of eight starts, captured a pair of stakes events in 2012, while the mare Amazing Saint crafted her own stellar season, winning seven of 10 starts, including the Bonne Chance S., while boosting her career earnings to $217,282.
The aforementioned G1 Wood Memorial S. hero I Want Revenge continued to be a stakes player in New York, while Got Even, Schoolyard Dreams, and Sarah Got Even placed in stakes from New York to California.
In Japan, multiple group winner Cosmo Phantom earned black-type for the fourth straight year. He boosted his earnings to over $2.6 million with placings in the G3 Nikkan Sports Sho Nakayama Kimpai and G3 Kokura Daishoten.
STEPHEN GOT EVEN is also started to make a name for himself as a broodmare sire. His daughter Wisconsin Lady is the dam of Triple Crown hopeful Ore Pass, a son of WAR PASS who recently on the Frank Whiteley Jr. S. at Laurel.
At the sales, meanwhile, STEPHEN GOT EVEN’s youngsters included a $90,000 colt who sold to Bob Feld Bloodstock and Tom Elvin at the OBS August Sale.
