AFTER MARKET’s daughter Lady of Fifty unleashed a huge late run to get a deserved Grade 1 victory in the Clement L. Hirsch S. at Del Mar on Aug. 3. The 4yo filly becomes the first Grade 1 winner from AFTER MARKET’s first crop. Bred by Clover Leaf Farms II and owned by trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and George Todaro, Lady of Fifty sat second last in the early going, tipped widest entering the stretch and rallied past a talented field to win by 1 1/2 lengths. Heroine of the G2 Bayakoa H. last December, Lady of Fifty has also placed in this year’s G1 Vanity H., G2 Marjorie L. Everett H. and G2 Santa Maria S.
Her latest win came two weeks after another 4yo filly by AFTER MARKET, Closing Range, launched her own powerful rally to get up and collect a third black-type win in the $100,000 Osunitas S. at Del Mar July 20. Owned and bred by St. George Farm and trained by Phil Oliver, Closing Range, now a winner of five of 10 lifetime starts, also won last year’s G3 La Prevoyante H. at Calder and Twin Light S. at Monmouth.
Lady of Fifty and Closing Range typify the offspring of AFTER MARKET: classy, consistent and blessed with a smart turn of foot.
AFTER MARKET’s third graded/group winner from his first crop comes in the form of Gocek, yet another Lane’s End Sales grad whose wins include this season’s G2 Clasico La Copa.
AFTER MARKET sophomores include the Japanese standout Storm Jaguar, a $275,000 OBSAPR grad, and the son of Storm Cat already has a pair of winners from his latest crop, including the maiden special winners Stormquility and Chairman Crooks who earned his first black type on Aug. 3, running second in the $100,000 Shakopee Juvenile S.
As part of a deep sire class, AFTER MARKET is the:
#4 third-crop sire by graded stakes winners
#6 third-crop sire by graded horses
#6 third-crop sire by black-type horses
#7 third-crop sire by stakes winners
#8 third-crop sire by cumulative earnings
