Freshman sire DISCREETLY MINE registered his first winner when Starlet of Mine streaked away to a 7 1/4-length victory in a $26,000 maiden special weight June 21. Hammered down to 2-5 favoritism off a solid fifth at Monmouth first out, Starlet of Mine was quickly clear and extended her margin of victory with every step down the lane. Bred by Machmer Hall and Milan Kosanovich, the filly is owned by Marshall Dowell and trained by Robert Bailes.

DISCREETLY MINE’s juveniles sold well at the 2-year-old auctions this year, with individuals including a $250,000 colt at OBS March who sold to Cheyenne Stables. Others went for $210,000 (West Point Thoroughbreds), $200,000 (Narvick International), $185,000 (Bardasian Stable), $120,000 (Klaravich Stable), $100,000 (Happy Tenth Stable), $100,000 (Ted Graling, Norm Tremblay, R. DiOdoro), etc.
