“Trainer Steve Asmussen said he has big plans for two-year-old filly My Miss Aurelia, who handled a huge step up in class on Saturday when she gamely battled Millionreasonswhy through the stretch to prevail by a neck in the Adirondack Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course.

Sent off as the 1-to-2 favorite, the Smart Strike filly seized control midway on the turn under Julien Leparoux and soon was engaged by Matron Stakes (G2) winner Millionreasonswhy. The two spurted clear of three other opponents in early stretch in a duel toward the finish line, but My Miss Aurelia clung to her advantage and dug in resolutely for the victory, covering 6½ furlongs in 1:17.01 on a track rated as fast.
