Godolphin’s It’s Tricky, the brilliant dual Grade1-winning daughter of MINESHAFT, was being asked to scale back to the tricky seven-furlong distance in Saturday’s G2 Distaff H. at Aqueduct, and the 4-year-old let her class shine through with an authoritative 3 1/2-length score. Winner of last year’s one-mile G1 Acorn S. and nine-furlong G1 CCA Oaks, It’s Tricky completed her year with runner-up finishes in the G1 Alabama S., G2 Cotillion S. and G1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic. An Eclipse Award finalist, the Kiaran McLaughlin-trained filly aired by 2 3/4 lengths in her seasonal debut in the G2 Top Flight H. at Aqueduct in March and was odds-on for the second straight start in the Distaff. Never far back under Eddie Castro, she kicked into gear in earnest with a furlong to run and edged away impressively. The final time for the race was a crisp 1:22 1/5 over the Big A’s main track, earning her a 102 BRIS figure. It’s Tricky has now compiled a record of 11-7-3-0 and earned $1,286,500
