ENGLISH CHANNEL’s 5yo daughter Parranda continued her red-hot streak with a popular score in the G2 Royal Heroine S. at Santa Anita June 28. Parranda is now 4-for-6 on the year, with two other graded wins on her card. She captured the G3 Wilshire S. at Santa Anita, and the G3 Suwannee River S.–as well as the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf S.– at Gulfstream. Parranda also ran a strong third in the G1 Gamely S.

In total, Parranda has won 10 of 24 starts and earned $668,655. She’s owned by Clark Campbell, Gatto Racing, et al, and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. Kinsman Farm bred her in Florida.

Just like his daughter, ENGLISH CHANNEL is also on a hot streak in 2014. The brilliant son of SMART STRIKE is the 7th-ranked sire in the nation by stakes winners, with his eight stakes winners outpacing the likes of War Front, More Than Ready, Malibu Moon, Ghostzapper, Distorted Humor, etc.

Four of ENGLISH CHANNEL’s stakes winners are of the graded variety, meaning just four sires in North America have more on the year.

ENGLISH CHANNEL is also the nation’s #5 sire by turf earnings.

Keep an eye out for ENGLISH CHANNEL yearlings at this summer’s yearling sales. At Fasig-Tipton July, his yearlings include Hip 249, a yearling filly from SW and $370,000 earner Only If Split. At Fasig’s Saratoga Sale, ENGLISH CHANNEL is represented by Hip 143, a son of the winning A.P. INDY mare Between Raindrops from the family of Broodmare of the Year Glowing Tribute.
