In a testament to his class, prowess and relevance, LANGFUHR, one of the best American sire sons of the legendary Danzig, registered his 1,000th individual winner over the weekend.
It’s a landmark figure, a rarified stat previously hit by the likes of Sadler’s Wells and Danehill, that matches well with some of LANGFUHR’s other accomplishments.
LANGFUHR the sire of at least 80 stakes winners, over 160 stakes horses, and 25 graded stakes winners. His five champions include the Saratoga track-record-setter Lawyer Ron, with his six Grade 1 winners including the speedy Euroears and the millionairess Imperial Gesture.
That’s an enormous amount of performance for a horse who stood for $7,500 in 2014, and confirms LANGFUHR as one of the best value sires in the nation. Enjoying another fine year at stud, his runners include the likes of the G2 National Hall of Fame S. winner Wallyanna, who also won the James W. Murphy S. at Pimlico.
Another LANGFUHR sophomore, the filly Island Rain, was a stakes winner in Canada, while a slew of his older runners continue to rack up the stakes wins at some of the nation’s biggest tracks. Ullapool won this year’s Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint S. at Gulfstream. Lil Bit O’Fun took the Wickerr S. at Del Mar. And Spring to the Sky captured a pair of $100,000 stakes at Saratoga.
In all, LANGFUHR’s six 2014 stakes winners matches or outranks such sires as Distorted Humor, Unbridled’s Song, Pioneerof the Nile, Awesome Again, Arch and Midnight Lute.
One thousand individual winners? That’s performance, indeed.
