Two weeks after registering his 75th career stakes winner, LEMON DROP KID hit another important milestone when his son Lemon Drop Dream became his 30th graded stakes winner in the G3 Count Fleet Sprint H. at Oaklawn Park Apr. 10.

The progressive colt, a grandson of champion Flawlessly and a half-brother to MGSW Denomination (SMART STRIKE) and MGSW Woke Up Dreamin, reeled off three straight at Fair Grounds over the winter, airing by daylight in a maiden special in December before allowance wins Jan. 18 and Feb. 7.

Third in the Duncan F. Kenner S. in his first stakes attempt Mar. 8, he didn’t have to wait long to collect his first black-type badge. Content sitting well off in fourth in the Count Fleet, he tipped wide for the drive and “closed with good late energy…to be in time,” according to the official chart. He stopped the clock in 1:09 flat for six furlongs and earned a 104 BRIS figure.

Bred by Brookdale Thoroughbreds, Lemon Drop Dream was bred by Brookdale Thoroughbreds. Steve Asmussen trains the colt for Mike McCarty.
