It was an ENGLISH CHANNEL exacta in this afternoon’s G3 Fair Grounds H. in New Orleans, as the 5yo Potomac River got his nose down over paternal sibling Skyring in the $150,000 event.

Last year, another son of ENGLISH CHANNEL, Optimizer, won the Fair Grounds H.

According to the Thoroughbred Daily News, “Potomac River was well out of it early as a headstrong Gentleman’s Kitten tugged the lead away from Skyring and began to run off. The latter regained command in upper stretch…but Potomac River sliced through horses out into the clear and gobbled up ground despite failing to switch leads to get up in the shadow of the wire.”

Also winner of last year’s G3 River City H. at Churchill Downs, Potomac River has now earned over $320,000.

Along with Tapit, ENGLISH CHANNEL is the leading sire in the nation by 2014 stakes winners–both have five individual stakes winners–and also leads by graded stakes winners. He is also #2 on the Turf Sire List.
